This is my build site for a Long Wheel Base V8 powered DAX Rush.

Why a DAX ? Well for some time I had been thinking of undertaking a kit car project which would be a Seven replica of sorts, but wasn't really sure which manufacturer to choose. One day I bought a copy of Kit Car International, which was specialising in Lotus 7 inspired roadsters and had many articles on a wide range of kits, covering engine options, build quality, handling characteristics and of course cost.

A few website searches and a trip to the Stoneleigh show where I could see the finished articles and talk to builders soon had me convinced that a DAX Rush was the way for me to go. The DAX is by no means the cheap end of the kit car market and there are plenty of very affordable alternatives, but this is likely to be the one and only time I do this sort of thing, so wanted to do something that had a high build quality, would be an engineering challenge for me and would be a pleasure to drive once on the road.

In terms of engine choice, I had always wanted a V8 powerplant and this was a no brainer for me. The V8 is very much old-school nowadays what with the high output 4-cylinder engines and bike powered demon machines commonly available, but nothing beats the torque and burble of the V8. Other opinions may differ, but that is mine.

So I have the basic factors in my head of what I want to do and have set myself a budget of £15,000 for the project and am hoping to complete the job within 2 years.

The links on the left allow you to navigate the site and provide a chronological diary of the build from my initial dreaming to what I hope will be finished on the road car. Enjoy.
